"This is a gem of a place in a great location"
This is a little gem of a place....what a find! It is well located for Uvita and surrounding area including great beaches, Ballenas Marine Zoological park, whale watching trips and surfing....it is also within easy reach of the Sierpe river and Osa peninsula for trips there. The Casita is the usual basic layout and is very well equipped, including toaster, coffee maker & microwave....the room is comfortable with nice boutique touches and a good bed....it also has a great shower....rare in Costa Rica! My most favourite thing about this accommodation was the garden and surrounding secondary forest, it is alive with birds hummingbirds and butterflies I spotted around 35 species just sitting at the picnic table, including toucans, parrots, honey creepers and an early morning visit from 12 macaws....real birders would see even more. The river setting is tranquil, calming and cooler than beach areas....getting to the waterfall and natural pool is very manageable. Rachel & Steven are gracious welcoming hosts, we were the only guests and while they made sure we knew they were there if we needed anything but they are not at all intrusive and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. They make lots of invaluable information available and Rachels day out itinerarys were very helpful. You will need a car to stay here..Rachel & Steven booked one on our behalf for our stay and it was delivered to us...they also booked a whale watching trip for us..saw humpback whales & Dolphins.

“An abslutely fantastica back to nature holiday”
Our jungalow was amazing. It was so comfortable; beatutifully furnished. We opened our door to a beautiful view, which included the river, where we bathed in the natural 'spa' every morning before starting our day. It was soooo peaceful and relaxing....at one with nature. Our holiday was how we made it. We did relax but we also surfed, ziplined, river tubed, ate at some fantastic places, and picnicked at the nearby beach too.
If there is anything you want to do, or need speak to Rachel and Steve. They are lovely hosts and made sure we were settled and had everything we needed.

“AMAZING!!”
WOW – what an amazing trip to Costa Rica! The country is gorgeous and filled with peace and tranquility. I loved my little home while I was there, “Casitas Del Rio.” What a charming and cozy place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this amazing country. The flowers, plants, wildlife, and especially the sound and smell of the awesome river from my back porch view was a wonderful way to relax after a day of sightseeing, zip lining, surfing, or whatever I chose to do. Although much of my trip was enjoying nature and all that it has to offer, I’m not going to lie, I did like having a nice air conditioned room and uninterrupted wifi access when it was time to hit my bed after a tiresome day. Rachel and Steve are amazing hosts and went out of their way to make my stay an enjoyable one. They even joined me on my zip line excursion so I wouldn’t have to go solo and Steve entertained me with his keen sense of humor. They also let me throw in a load of laundry before I headed to the big city of San Jose. I had a wonderful vacation and can’t wait to visit Uvita again. When I do, I will definitely make sure my favorite spot is available, “Casitas Del Rio” – Casita #3.

It was such a great pleasure to stay with the hosts. The casita we stayed at was by far the nicest place we stayed in Costa Rica and at a price that amazed us in terms of the lodging and location. The hosts provided us with water, wine for our first night, a water cooler, his personal boogie boards, more than we could have even dreamed up. Our second night there, we ended up having beers with the hosts and the other guests and it turned into an awesome mini party at Casitas Del Rio place where we all got to know each other and even order in pizza! I've never stayed with people so friendly and generous. It genuinely felt like we made new friends. And, honestly, I read all the other reviews and thought, what are they putting in the kool-aid for these reviews??! But, man, my cynicism disappeared quickly with their genuine hospitality. Don't miss staying there if you can. It was truly exceptional.

I can't recommend this place enough! The room is absolutely perfect and the hosts are a wonderful couple that I now call friends. So, the room: it was so comfortable that I spent almost a whole day there, instead of going out!! The river is steps away from your door, and a short hike takes you to a pristine waterfall. You can hear the sounds of the jungle, and relax on your porch enjoying the beautiful flowers. The hosts: I am not exaggerating when I say that I have never seen so much care and love from people you have never met before! These guys are amazing, they recommend places around the area because they WENT there and tried for themselves. They will tell you who's the best guide for your tour, what's the best dish at a restaurant and where's the spot to watch the sunset, depending on what kind of ambiance you want. And just as important: they are so much fun and amazing to hang out with! My trip was amazing, thanks to them.

This place is paradise! If you are looking for beautiful and serene accommodations away from the tourists, look no further. For beautiful sunsets, the beaches are a short drive away. A short hike away, there are secluded swimming spots in the river and a lovely waterfall. Fall asleep and awaken each morning to a symphony of nature. We didn't get to meet the hosts, but the hosts was very friendly and helpful, and made our stay easy and enjoyable. For those missing your furry friends at home, Betty and Wilson were very affectionate, but also not bothersome if you are not dog-lovers. A wonderful experience from beginning to end. We just wish we had stayed longer. We will definitely be back!

Our stay at Casitas Del Rio were one of the highlights of our trip in Costa Rica. The grounds were spectacular with plants and flowers, the river was outside our door. The hosts told us about some swimming holes up the river where we spent two glorious days. The casitas were gorgeous, clean and well stocked. The Hosts were gracious, friendly and helpful in many ways. Thank you so much! We highly recommend their casitas!

Absolutely fantastic experience! The jungalows and the setting are so relaxing. Definitely worth taking time to drive towards Uvita and spending time here. Wish we had more time The location is ideal as it close enough to Dominical and Manuel Antonio and still secluded. They were very helpful prior to the trip sending us driving directions and some suggestions. After meeting the hosts and her, we have new friends. Extremely warm people.

Amazing hosts! Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful garden, surrounding by a wild jungle. Best directions I have ever received. Hosts were very welcoming and recommended several local insider tips on things to see and places to go, including directing us to a beach where we had our best beach experience ever. They invited us in for a drink and were lots of fun.

If you are going to Manuel Antonio, you owe it to yourself to take the quick (read: no traffic) 30-45 minute south drive and spend a day or two here. From what I hear, this part of the coast is getting more developed and I am glad I got to see it before that happens. After a 3 week vacation in CR, this was our last stop. Ive been to CR before and wanted to go exploring further south on the west coast. A quick drive past Dominical (great surfing), you come up on the town of Uvita. During this trip we roughed it at times and stayed in 5-star resorts other times. I have to say that this was my favorite actual setting for the whole journey. And thats saying a lot after being spoiled at places like Tabacon and Nayara and staying beachside in Playa Coco and Tamarindo. This place exudes peacefulness and zen. You can see that the hosts have put so much love and thought into the property it really is a piece of heaven. Congratulations to the 2 of them for the hard work and team mentality. And wow, what bulletproof directions to the property! With wildlife, really well designed grounds, modern casitas and a flowing river right next to the entire property you really cant go wrong. As a designer, I really did appreciate all of the great design of the place. When I retire, I hope its someplace like here. There is even a waterfall if you hike up the river a bit... this is the kind of stuff that normal tourists don't get to experience in the crowded areas of Costa Rica. Sitting in waterfalls with no one else around. Setting foot on beaches where there are no footprints.
